Life Lessons
For Duane, some of life’s most important lessons weren’t learned in the classroom. Born in Pontiac and raised on a farm outside of Hartland, Michigan, he used to get up before dawn and feed the livestock and do other chores, all while going to school and participating in high school sports. From an early age, Duane was always taught to roll up his sleeves and make things happen. Friends and family will likewise tell you, that when you give a task to Duane, you can consider it a “lock”he’ll accomplish it no matter what obstacles stand in his way.
When the draft was enacted for the Vietnam War, Duane did not hesitate to serve his country. The experience, he recalls, was “eye-opening” as it continued to forge his work ethic and sense of responsibility. As a light duty truck driver in the infantry, he once again spent a lot of time training out “in the rough.” While he was never dispatched to Vietnam, Duane will tell you the discipline, survival skills and training ushered him from youth to manhood.
High Ranks
Returning to civilian life, it was his strong work ethic and agreeable personality that enabled Duane to excel in management positions in the business world. Whether working a dairy farm or managing a chain of automotive repair centers, Duane earned a reputation for his fair-minded leadership, his hard work ethic and his ability to get things done.

Duane loves taking in a friendly round of golf and savoring the good life in McDonough. For him, life doesn’t get any better than this.

A Symbol of Excellence
Today, Duane still enjoys rolling up his sleeves and delving into a home project, even though he has long since moved from his farming community roots. For him, getting his hands and jeans a little dirty is still a symbol of the old-fashioned values of his youth. It’s this straightforward, no-frills approach to life that is at the heart of Duane’s philosophy toward his career in real estate. Some people try to make real estate more complicated than it is. Duane tries to simplify it for you. Melding his extended business experience with his can-do attitude, he takes a hands-on approach to working with people and helping them achieve their real estate goals.
It’s a Lock with Lockwood
Duane’s strength lies in his ability to carefully explain each step of the home buying and selling process and put together a detailed action plan to guide his clients to a successful transaction. But more importantly, his reputation is being forged by his ability to come through for his clients and make things happen. When he focuses on a goal, it’s as good as done.
